Practice Concentration & Experience Jim has a diverse commercial litigation practice, and has extensive experience conducting hearings, trials, and appeals in the areas of corporate and insurance litigation, class actions, construction claims and builders’ liens, oil and gas litigation, insolvency, professional liability, and administrative law. He has experience before all levels of court in Saskatchewan, courts in Ontario, Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada as well as before various administrative tribunals and regulatory bodies.
Jim is currently listed in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading practitioner in the areas of Construction, Litigation - Corporate Commercial, Litigation - Commercial Insurance, Litigation - Directors' & Officers' Liability, Insurance, and Professional Liability.
Jim has lectured at numerous professional and industry seminars on topics such as examinations for discovery, Queen’s Bench chambers practice, builders’ liens and construction law, and trial skills. He is a member of the Queen’s Bench Bar Judicial Council and a former member of Arbitration & Mediation Institute of Saskatchewan Inc. He has testified as an expert witness in a number of civil cases, on the laws of Saskatchewan and the standard of care applicable to lawyers.
He has been recognized in Lexpert's Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, and in 2008 was inducted as a Fellow of The American College of Trial Lawyers. He is also listed in the 2008, 2009, and 2010 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of Construction Law, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, and Insurance Law.
