Housing Strategy Being Developed to Accommodate the Province’s Growth

A comprehensive housing strategy is being put into place to strengthen the affordable housing market in Saskatchewan.  The plan should be completed by June of 2011.

The Saskatchewan Housing Corporation is working with the provincial government and stakeholders in the housing industry to ensure that the Saskatchewan's housing strategy will be able to support a growing population.

"The strategy will be long-term, targeted and strategic," Social Services Minister and Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation June Draude said. "It will include measures that will have an immediate, positive impact, as well as changes that will ensure a well-functioning housing system into the future."

The housing strategy will address situations from shelters to higher-end rental homes to ownership, focusing specifically on affordability and accessibility.
