Practice Concentration & Experience Marie-France Menc has broad experience in financial services law, particularly in corporate financing and debt restructuring, and in commercial law, with a focus on the purchase and sale of businesses, licensing agreements, and intellectual property law.
Marie-France originally comes from Toronto, where she was a partner in a major law firm and practised in the financial services area, with a focus on corporate financings, trade finance and documentary credit transactions, and security enforcement. In 1992, Marie-France moved to London, Ontario, where she practised in financial services and business law, focusing on commercial transactions including the purchase and sale of businesses, licensing agreements, and financing of new ventures. She also participated with the firm's Toronto and Montreal offices in representing Canadian businesses making investments in Latin America.
Since 1999, Marie-France has worked primarily in the intellectual property and technology transfer areas, as Legal Manager to Research Western at The University of Western Ontario, as the founder and Director of the Industry Liaison Office at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, and as a consultant to Ontario universities in collaborative technology transfer initiatives.
Marie-France is fluent in French and Spanish.
