Funding for Municipal Road Improvements

Funding in the amount of $23.5 million has been approved to assist rural municipalities with improvements and upgrades to roads, bridge & culverts.  The funding is being provided through the Muncipal Roads for the Economy Program (MREP), a program overseen by a management board of representatives from the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure and the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities.

"Our government's record investments in transportation include not only the provincial highway system, but rural municipal roads as well," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter said. "This funding will help ensure RM roads can support our growing economy and provide safe transportation for rural residents."

MREP provides cost-shared funding to RMs to assist with road maintenance and construction due to increased traffic and is targeted to developing primary weigh truck haul routes to connect to the provincial highway system.
