Laurance has an extensive commercial law practice, primarily focussed in the areas of commercial finance, securities, and business and corporate law. Laurance represents local, national, and international corporations and institutions in relation to a variety of business related projects and interests. 

Laurance is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, a former president of the Regina Chamber of Commerce, and a former director of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.

Laurance is also listed in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of Corporate and Securities Law.
