Practices

We have long standing working relationships with the local trustees in bankruptcy, and are often retained to act for them in estate administrations. We also have experience bringing and opposing bankruptcy applications, filing proofs of claim, enforcing security against a bankrupt, responding to stays of proceedings obtained by debtors, and opposing or seeking discharges from bankruptcy.

Assisting in the restructuring of businesses in financial difficulty is also part of our practice, and we have acted in restructurings for both creditors and debtors. We have also acted as independent counsel to boards of directors and to monitors under CCAA proceedings.

Priority disputes are common in insolvencies and we regularly provide opinions and litigation services in such disputes.
