It is with great sadness that the lawyers and staff of Kanuka Thuringer LLP acknowledge the passing of our colleague and friend, Peter E. Thuringer, Q.C.
Peter was born and raised at Vibank, Saskatchewan and attended the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees. Peter began his articles in Saskatoon in May 1960, but when his principal was appointed to the Court of Queen's Bench, he moved to Regina and transferred his articles to Robert L. Pierce, Q.C., one of the founding members of our firm, then known as MacPherson, Neuman and Pierce. On his admission to the Bar in 1961, Peter continued practising with our firm for 44 years until his retirement in 2005. During his remarkable career Peter was mentor to many young lawyers and trusted counsel to his clients. Peter always commanded respect from his peers and was acknowledged as a leading counsel in the areas of corporate and commercial law, banking and insolvency matters.
Following Peter's retirement in 2005 he continued to serve as Counsel to our firm. His contributions will be missed and he will be fondly remembered.
